We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by an unfriendly man-not good enough in my book. Then in the morning there was "emergency" drilling works from very early which we were not warned about. I am sure they could have put us in a room where we didnt feel tremors aand hear loud noices for 3 hours-not the party lie-in I needed. The air-con had issues....However, the restaurant was lovely and very reasonable and the hotel is quaint and lovely. I would, recommend that you check out first if there are works on and if not, this hotel is ideally suited to a prefect holiday in Barcelona.

Gaudi's park is very unusual and good for a long walk in the sun. The cathedral of the sacred family is under construction and wont be finished till 2010.Its good to visit to suport the works but expect to see alot of construction works. The catholic cathedral is beautiful with regular masses if you are looking for this.

Apart from the renovations, the hotel was to a good standard of a 2 star. Rooms are spacious and very clean. About a minute walk from the La Ramblas there are many restaurants and bars.

Central hotel literally just off the Ramblas. Breakfast was ok, room wasn't so great very basic although nice and clean. Maybe some of other rooms have been renovated as this is a very old hotel, great old tiling in restaurants. Ask for a renovated room, balcony access rooms are at back and its quite scary to walk on the narrow balcony 4 floors up!!

This Hotel is in a very good location very close to las ramblas, approx 35m away and half way down from Plz Cataluna.
The room was basic but clean and the bathroom was new. The lobby and resturant are very ornate and beautiful.
Top Tip
The Metro was very easy to use and very cheep. The Airport bus was very cheep and takes you from outside the terminal A to Plz Cataluna.

IF you are a heavy sleeper then you will have no problems with this hotel BUT if you are a light sleeper like me or are traveling with children this may not be ideal. It is an old building and the hallways are tiled and all connect at a central (tiled) courtyard. we were on the 4th floor and could hear people talking in the lobby and restaurants below. there are very heavy fire doors to block the noise from the courtyard and I would advise closing these before you go to bed but they will be opened again by morning by staff and it will not help the noise from any of the other guests that stay on your floor. My husband slept fine most of the time but on the nights that there were loud drunks in the building even he had trouble. I was a zombie the whole time.

Save the port for sunday because everything else is closed that day.
If you are going to the erotic museum, do it when you still have a hotel room to go back to afterwards not after check out!
Be careful walking left out of the hotel (away from Las Ramblas) after dark, there are a few dodgy streets.
